Programs of Study
KTC has programs of study available for pre-service studies, and qualifications upgrade pathways for teachers, leaders and lecturers. Most programs are at Advanced Diploma level. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is also available for teachers, school leaders and lecturers, as non-accredited workshops.
Pre-service Recruits
KTC offers an Advanced Diploma of Teaching program aimed at pre-service trainees wishing to become primary and junior secondary school teachers in Kiribati. KTC has the responsibility to recruit the best, and most committed, competent and passionate teachers through a fair and transparent procedure from a pool of mature-aged people, also those from the high school and tertiary graduates’ categories. Pre-service students are selected for February commencement (and sometimes there is a mid-year commencement program)
Recruitment groups and processes
- Mature aged: mature test, interview, English language entrance examination (aligned to CEFR B1 English level)
- School graduates: interview, English language entrance examination (aligned to CEFR B1 English level)
- Tertiary graduates: interview, English language entrance examination (aligned to CEFR B1 English level)
Improving English skills
Prospective KTC recruits are recommended to use some of the following materials to practise their English language skills
